Legal Infrastructure
The Barbados legal system is one of common law and statutes based on the British system. The laws are administered by a hierarchical judicial system which consists of Magistrates Courts and the lower level, a Supreme Court, and a Court of Appeal. The office of the Attorney General has complete responsibility for the administration of the legal and judicial system. Barbados is party to the establishment of the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) which is the court of final appeal for matters originating in Barbadian courts.
